CRICKET | The skipper’s unbeaten 80 and a fighting half-century by Musheer negates the visitor’s decision to bowl first on a pitch with a greenish tinge while Mhatre chips in with a useful contribution
Captain Siddhesh Lad scored an unbeaten 80 to guide Mumbai to 249 for five on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy match against Chandigarh at Wankhede Stadium. After Chandigarh opted to bowl, Mumbai lost Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck before Lad and Musheer Khan helped the home side recover.
Musheer Khan contributed 65 and Ayush Mhatre added 48, while Chandigarh pacer Rohit Dhanda claimed three wickets. Shams Mulani was unbeaten on 27 alongside Lad at stumps.
