Spencer Bivens spent most of 2026 in Triple-A, made just four SF Giants appearances and joined the Royals after losing his roster spot in September.
Around the Foghorn's Nathan Hirschi reviewed Spencer Bivens' difficult 2026 season, which ended with his departure from the San Francisco Giants. After pitching 81 innings as a key bullpen piece in 2025, the 32-year-old failed to make the Opening Day roster and spent most of the season in Triple-A Sacramento before the Giants designated him for assignment in September.
Bivens struggled in limited major-league action with San Francisco, seeing his ERA rise to 14.40 after a difficult stretch in August. The Kansas City Royals claimed Bivens off waivers, and he finished the campaign with two scoreless appearances for his new club.
