Benfica close the gap on league leaders Porto with comfortable clean sheet win ahead of Celtic Europa League clash

Benfica closed the gap on Portuguese league leaders Porto to five points after securing a 2-0 victory against Vitoria Guimaraes at the Stadium of Light. Samuel Dahl scored the opening goal in the 24th minute following an assist from Vangelis Pavlidis. Substitute Heorhii Sudakov doubled the lead in the 75th minute after combining with Manchester City loanee Claudio Echeverri.

The dominant performance served as preparation for Benfica's upcoming Europa League encounter against Celtic. Marco Silva's side previously opened their European campaign with an away win over AC Milan. Meanwhile, Celtic manager Martin O'Neill will be without former Benfica winger Jota for the European tie, having excluded him from the squad due to a prior injury.
