Potapova announced her season was over after retiring from her China Open opener against Sinja Kraus due to a right shoulder injury. Prior to that, she suffered a knee issue during a fourth-round loss to Mirra Andreeva at the 2026 US Open, prompting her decision to focus on recovery until 2027.
