Jayden Daniels took responsibility for the Washington Commanders' chaotic final play Sunday after a clock-management breakdown cost them a chance to beat the New York Giants in overtime.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels took responsibility for a chaotic overtime clock-management failure that resulted in a 27-27 tie with the New York Giants. With no timeouts and 12 seconds remaining at the Giants' 24-yard line, Daniels ran instead of throwing to the sideline, running out the clock before kicker Drew Stevens could attempt a game-winning field goal.
Head coach Dan Quinn also took blame for attempting to chase more yards rather than simply clocking the ball. The gaffe concluded Daniels' return from a two-game absence caused by a dislocated left elbow, during which he threw for 199 yards and rushed for 103 yards with two touchdowns.
