Just when you thought you could mentally check out — let your Eagles anxiety go and lower your expectations — the Eagles break your heart again.
Evan Macy of PhillyVoice highlights the Philadelphia Eagles' improved third-down conversions alongside an absent rushing attack in a 19-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. After failing on all 12 third-down attempts the prior week, Philadelphia converted 4 of 6 in the first half behind Jalen Hurts, Dontayvion Wicks, and a 62-yard Darius Cooper touchdown. However, a late collapse and poor special teams coverage allowed Cam Little to hit a game-winning field goal.
Macy emphasizes that Philadelphia's ground game faltered severely, rushing 18 times for just 22 yards. Missing key offensive linemen as well as running backs Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby, fourth-string back Dameon Pierce found little room behind an altered offensive front. Running back Will Shipley exited with a foot injury, allowing Jacksonville to dominate possession for more than 35 minutes.
