Football finance expert Kieran Maguire states that Everton and other clubs may have grounds to take legal action against Manchester City following an independent commission's verdict. The commission found Manchester City guilty of using sham contracts to inflate revenues by over £900m between 2009 and 2018, as well as failing to cooperate with the inquiry. Manchester City denies all wrongdoing and has launched an appeal.
Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside, Maguire explained that any compensation claim would depend on demonstrating measurable damage on the pitch. A challenging hurdle for any claimant would be proving that Manchester City's financial breaches directly cost them points and league positions relative to rivals during that period.
