Aston Villa return to Champions League action on Wednesday evening and Unai Emery has plenty to think about

Aston Villa face significant squad absences ahead of their Champions League meeting with Fenerbahce on Wednesday. Matteo Ruggeri is considered a doubt after manager Unai Emery confirmed the left back suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Brentford. George Hemmings, who missed the Brentford match due to a minor knee injury, is also being assessed, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka may be required to cover on the left flank.
In addition to the doubts, Villa will be without several key players for the European fixture. Left back Ian Maatsen is sidelined until November, while Amadou Onana remains out long-term and Modou Keba Cisse is absent. Brian Madjo and Leon Goretzka are returning to training but are not expected to feature, and Taylor Harwood-Bellis is ineligible after being excluded from the Champions League squad.
