Tigers Predicted to Bring Back All-Star in Massive Offseason Move

Bleacher Report analyst Kerry Miller predicts the Detroit Tigers could pursue a free-agent reunion with right-handed pitcher Casey Mize this offseason. Detroit traded Mize to the San Diego Padres during the summer trade deadline to acquire future assets, but the franchise now faces significant vacancies in its starting pitching rotation after missing the postseason.

Prior to the midseason trade, Mize recorded a 2.70 ERA across 16 starts for Detroit before struggling to a 7.46 ERA over 10 starts with San Diego. While writer Matt Levine argues re-signing Mize would strengthen Detroit's rotation, Miller notes any potential deal depends on whether Mize holds lingering animosity toward the Tigers' front office.
