As recovery from knee inflammation intensifies, the sidelined playmaker increases his skating workload. While New York navigates his absence, cautious optimism builds for a healthy return without setbacks.

New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal is progressing in his recovery from left knee inflammation, steadily ramping up his skating workload. Head coach Pete DeBoer confirmed on Monday that the playmaker skated again and is pushing harder each day.
Barzal initially had to be shut down at the start of training camp before resuming skating last Thursday. Without the 28-year-old forward in the lineup, the Islanders have started the season with a 2-3-0 record over their first five games.
