Matteo Darmian has officially signed with Bologna on a free transfer following a week-long trial with the club. The 36-year-old former Inter and Manchester United defender agreed to a contract running through the end of the 2026-27 season, which reportedly includes an option for an additional 12 months. Darmian is eligible to feature in Bologna's upcoming Serie A match against Lecce.
The Italian veteran had been a free agent since departing Inter at the end of the 2025-26 campaign. Bologna moved to sign Darmian after right-back Emil Holm suffered a major injury on international duty with Sweden that required surgery and is expected to sideline him for four to six months.
