The Panthers lost Jacob Markström to injury in a 5-3 defeat to Buffalo, but Sam Reinhart and the power play provided bright spots in another tough outing.

The Florida Panthers suffered a 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center, losing starting goaltender Jacob Markström to injury after the first period. Markström left after tightening up, joining injured teammates Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand on the sidelines. Buffalo capitalized on the goaltending change, scoring four goals against backup Akira Schmid over the final two periods.
Despite the defeat, Sam Reinhart provided a bright spot by scoring two power-play goals against his former team to briefly tie the game 3-3. The Panthers converted two of four man-advantage opportunities after entering the matchup ranking 32nd in the NHL on the power play. Florida now quickly travels to face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
