Kimi Antonelli's lack of penalty at the Singapore Grand Prix despite four apparent track limits violations raised question marks.

Crash.net reports that Formula 1 championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli avoided a time penalty despite logging four track limits violations during the Singapore Grand Prix. Mercedes driver Antonelli suffered braking issues with his W17, leading the FIA to reportedly determine he had a justifiable reason for leaving the track without gaining an advantage. Mercedes denied claims that it had contested and overturned one of the violations.
Crash.net notes the decision highlights potential inconsistencies in track limit enforcement across F1. Lewis Larkam points out that both Lewis Hamilton in 2025 and Antonelli himself at Silverstone were previously penalised five seconds despite reporting mechanical problems. Ultimately, a five-second penalty would not have impacted Antonelli's third-place finish, as he finished 16 seconds ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris.
