27-year-old hits third Ranji Trophy hundred in as many matches; ’We did not even have a pukka house... It was only when I played the Under-19 level that I bought a brick-and-mortar house for my family.’

Bengal batter Sudip Gharami continued his prolific domestic red-ball form by scoring an unbeaten 122 against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. The 27-year-old's performance marked his third consecutive hundred in the competition across seasons, following previous innings of 299 against Andhra and 146 against Jammu & Kashmir. Gharami amassed 797 runs at an average of 53.77 during the previous Ranji campaign, finishing as Bengal's top scorer.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Gharami recounted overcoming significant financial hardships during his youth, highlighting how his father, who worked as a mason, secured loans to purchase his cricket kits. Gharami credited offseason technical adjustments at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bangalore, alongside advice from batter Sarfaraz Khan, for aiding his form as he aims to establish himself as Bengal's primary crisis man.
