The New York Islanders are hopeful that forward Mathew Barzal will return to the lineup soon from a knee injury. Head coach Peter DeBoer indicated that while Tuesday's game against the Vancouver Canucks might come too quickly, Thursday's contest against the Ottawa Senators remains a possibility as Barzal continues skating.\n\nBarzal led the Islanders in scoring last season with 19 goals and 72 points across 81 games. Upon his return, the team anticipates shifting him to the wing on the second line alongside either Brayden Schenn or Calum Ritchie due to their existing center depth.
