It appears that the Philadelphia Phillies’ six-year relationship with José Alvarado is coming to an end. So how did Alvarado do in 2026? Spoiler Alert: not very well.
Writer Ethan Williams gives Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher José Alvarado a failing grade of "F" for his disappointing 2026 Major League Baseball campaign. The veteran left-hander struggled throughout the year, finishing with a 5.86 ERA across 68 appearances after the team exercised his $9 million club option.
Williams argues that Alvarado's inability to limit hits and walks contributed significantly to the bullpen's struggles, with the Phillies blowing 23 saves overall. With the 31-year-old now heading toward free agency, Williams anticipates that Alvarado's six-year tenure in Philadelphia has come to an end.
