Entering Week 5, the Chicago Bears’ defense was allowing just 16.3 points and 282.3 yards per game, ranking sixth in EPA/Play and seventh in Success Rate allowed. But after surrendering 31 points and 428 yards to the Green Bay Packers…

Danny Burke argues that the Green Bay Packers exposed underlying flaws in the Chicago Bears' defense after defeating them 31-0 and gaining 428 yards on Sunday. The loss caused Chicago's defensive metrics to drop to 19.2 points and 311.4 yards allowed per game, which Burke contends proves their earlier statistical success was inflated.
According to Burke, Chicago's seemingly dominant defensive stretch from Weeks 2 through 4 was the product of favorable matchups against weak offenses rather than genuine improvement. He highlights that against capable opponents like Carolina and Green Bay, the Bears surrendered a combined 68 points and 906 yards.
