Mikel Arteta has said he has a clear conscience over his former club Manchester City's serious breaches of financial rules.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated he has a clear conscience regarding his time at Manchester City following a ruling on the club's financial breaches. An independent commission found Manchester City artificially inflated revenues by £830m between 2009/10 and 2017/18 through sham contracts with commercial partners. Arteta served as an assistant under manager Pep Guardiola during two of the investigated seasons, but City has denied wrongdoing and lodged an appeal.
Speaking at a press conference, Arteta declined to comment further until City's appeal process concludes. The commission reported City inflated sponsorship income by £264.3m during the 2016/17 and 2017/18 campaigns, during which players such as John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, and Bernardo Silva joined. Despite scrutiny over league integrity, Arteta maintained the Premier League remains the best in the world.
