Chris Eubank Jr. has confirmed he is a free agent and is planning a return to the ring by the end of 2026. The 36-year-old is weighing multiple offers from promoters and broadcasters while recovering from undisclosed health issues that followed his loss to Conor Benn.
Eubank Jr. has been sidelined since the unanimous decision defeat in November 2025, a fight in which he claims he was not at full strength. He is now focused on a comeback, driven by a desire to continue competing at a high level. “I’m a fighter. I’ve always been in love with the sport so I will campaign for as long as I can, until the wheels fall off,” Eubank Jr said. His reflection on the last bout was direct. “They nearly fell off in that last fight, but you know, we kept things together, and since then I’ve been on a recovery program, getting back to full health, getting back to the old Chris Eubank Jr. In that last fight, you saw a fighter that you know it wasn’t me, everyone knows that.”
His status as a free agent gives him complete control over his next move, a powerful position in the boxing business. Without ties to a specific promoter or network, Eubank can select the fight and financial package that best serves his career aims. This leverage allows him to dictate terms for what could be the final run of his professional career. He has no specific opponent targeted but stated that public demand will be a significant factor in his decision-making process.
“There are a lot of names that would make for exciting fights. There are a lot of people that the fans want to see me step into the ring with,” said Eubank Jr. The ultimate goal remains a world title, though he acknowledges the difficulty of that ambition at this stage. For now, the priority is securing the right terms for his return. “It all comes down to what’s best for me, and I think I will be back in the ring maybe towards the end of the year.”
