Liverpool have reportedly taken a step towards signing a Chelsea star. His future is a little up in the air.
Liverpool have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong as they seek reinforcements for their backline. Teamtalk reports that the Reds made an initial attempt during the summer transfer window, signalling their long-term interest in the young talent even though a deal did not immediately materialize.
Chelsea remain eager to tie Acheampong down to a long-term contract, with manager Xabi Alonso reportedly viewing him as a key part of the club's future. However, Liverpool are monitoring the situation as a permanent move would address multiple defensive needs, including homegrown quota requirements and pending contract expirations for senior defenders.
