The Buffalo Sabres won on Monday, an odd 5-3 matinee win over the Florida Panthers in which goalie Colten Ellis was pulled, defenseman Rasmus Dahlin was hurt — and in which Josh Norris hit his new low with the Sabres.…

Buffalo Sabres forward Josh Norris was demoted to fourth-line center duties during a 5-3 victory over the Florida Panthers. Norris skated between Tyson Kozak and Beck Malenstyn, playing just 11:24 of ice time. With Tage Thompson, Noah Ostlund, and Ryan McLeod all deployed ahead of him down the middle, writer Billy Heyen argues the usage marks a new low and raises questions regarding Norris's future role.
The lineup demotion follows a slow start to the season for Norris, who has recorded only one assist and seven shots on goal through six games. While he managed 2:43 of power-play ice time against Florida, Heyen notes Norris must increase his production to regain significant minutes amid Buffalo's crowded forward core.
