DeMarcus Cousins has shared a unique take on the real reason behind what caused the fallout between Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, which ended with Brown getting traded.
Former NBA player DeMarcus Cousins claimed on the Gil’s Arena show that Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd sparked the fallout between Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Cousins argued that Kidd's psychological comments during the 2024 NBA Finals—calling Brown the Boston Celtics' best player—initiated a rift that eventually led to Brown being traded.
Brown won the 2024 Finals MVP award over Tatum before later being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. Kidd's comments during the series praised Brown's two-way performance over Tatum, which Cousins views as the catalyst that damaged the championship-winning duo's long-term relationship.
