Formula 1 will officially return to Africa for the first time since 1993 after signing a landmark 10-year agreement to host the African Grand Prix in Rwanda.

Formula 1 has signed a landmark 10-year agreement to host the African Grand Prix in Rwanda, marking the sport's first race on the continent since 1993. Presented by Visit Rwanda, the event will officially join the calendar early in the next decade once a new purpose-built venue is completed.
The new circuit will be built to FIA Grade 1 standards in Bugesera, roughly 40 kilometers south of Kigali and adjacent to the new Kigali International Airport. F1 President Stefano Domenicali, Rwandan President Paul Kagame, and FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem praised the deal for expanding motorsport to every inhabited continent while driving regional economic and skills development.
