The Minnesota Wild defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 on Monday, October 12, behind a strong three-goal first period. Matt Boldy opened the scoring, followed by power-play and even-strength tallies from Maxim Shabanov and Danila Yurov, while Rieger Lorenz notched his first NHL point. Jesper Wallstedt started in goal to secure the victory as the Wild sealed the game with an empty-netter.
The victory was tempered by an injury to Nico Sturm, who was struck by a shot near his ear during the first period and transported to the hospital for evaluation. Head coach John Hynes had no immediate postgame update, and the Wild quickly moved on to prepare for a road matchup against the Winnipeg Jets.
