Warrington Wolves forward Ben Currie has shared how a phone call from England head coach Brian McDermott helped soften the blow of their Super League Grand Final defeat to Wakefield Trinity. McDermott contacted Currie on the team bus leaving Old Trafford to inform him of his selection for the upcoming World Cup, bringing positive news following Saturday's painful loss.
Currie is one of three Warrington Wolves players selected for the England squad, alongside George Williams and Matty Ashton. Heading into his third World Cup at age 32, Currie noted he and Williams will serve as senior leaders as England prepare for their tournament opener against Tonga in Perth.
