The Story in 60 Seconds

Purple Row ranked catcher Braxton Fulford at No. 44 in its review of 2026 Colorado Rockies players after he posted -0.3 rWAR. The Texas Tech product spent the bulk of the 2026 season with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes after Colorado signed free-agent catcher Brett Sullivan. Fulford logged 85 plate appearances across sporadic MLB stints, recording a .176/.259/.270 slash line with one home run and two defensive errors.

Writer Renee Dechert argues that Fulford failed to take a developmental leap and faces limited major league opportunities behind Sullivan and starter Hunter Goodman. Dechert notes that while Fulford remains under team control through 2032 with one minor-league option remaining, he must prove his capability at the major-league level in 2027.
