Omari Jones got his hometown stoppage, but Alan Sanchez offered little resistance once the unbeaten prospect increased the pressure. Friday’s second-round finish in Orlando showed Jones could close the show

Unbeaten junior middleweight prospect Omari Jones defeated veteran Alan Sanchez by second-round stoppage on October 2 at Caribe Royale Orlando. Referee Christopher Young halted the scheduled eight-round main event at 49 seconds of round two after Jones unleashed sustained combinations against the ropes. The victory improved the 23-year-old Olympic bronze medalist's professional record to 8-0 with five knockouts.
Sanchez dropped to 24-8-1 following the bout, having offered little resistance after returning from a lengthy layoff. Boxing 24/7 Wire notes that while Jones showcased an aggressive finishing ability after three consecutive distance fights, the prospect still requires a more durable opponent to properly test his defensive risk management.
