LaFleur revealed that he's not too worried.
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur expressed continued confidence in rookie kicker Trey Smack following his struggles in a 31-7 win against the Chicago Bears. Smack missed two field goals and an extra point during the Week 5 contest. LaFleur noted that the rookie was likely overcompensating for the strong winds at Lambeau Field and expects the experience to serve as an important learning opportunity.
Despite the difficult game, Smack has converted 7-of-10 field goal attempts and 9-of-11 extra points this season. His rookie highlights include successful kicks from 59 yards against the Minnesota Vikings and 58 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with one of his previous misses being blocked.
