When Charles Leclerc had a better start than Max Verstappen and claimed the inside line for Turn 1, many in the media centre thought the Monegasque should have held his ground to take the lead. However, Verstappen was on the outside…

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc admitted he missed an opportunity to overtake Red Bull's Max Verstappen during the early laps of the Singapore Grand Prix. While Leclerc backed out of a risky Turn 1 move at the start, he revealed that he failed to capitalize on Verstappen's early electrical deployment issues because he assumed the problem was a one-off and did not deploy his own battery power in time.
Verstappen confirmed he experienced deployment trouble that nearly allowed Leclerc past at Turn 7, an issue also reported by Racing Bulls driver Arvid Lindblad. Leclerc ultimately finished second, securing his fifth podium of the season, but conceded that Red Bull's superior race pace likely would have decided the victory regardless.
