The Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to start undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels in Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Head coach Todd Bowles stated that while the team will monitor starter Baker Mayfield's recovery from a dislocated thumb, Daniels is currently positioned to remain under center.
Mayfield is attempting to return after having stitches removed from a thumb procedure, but Daniels earned praise after leading Tampa Bay to a road victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday. Daniels completed 19 of 25 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown in the win, bringing his starting record to 1-1.
