The Boston Red Sox may reportedly part ways with outfielder Jarren Duran this offseason instead of paying his projected arbitration salary. Duran is projected to earn roughly $11.1 million in arbitration next season, but The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey reports Boston seems unlikely to pay that amount. Consequently, the former All-Star could agree to a reduced salary or request to be non-tendered, which would make him a free agent.
Duran struggled during the 2026 season, batting a career-worst .207 over 151 games, despite hitting 20 home runs and recording 21 stolen bases. His campaign was also marked by off-field friction, including an altercation with a teammate and multiple incidents involving fans. Boston also has 22-year-old outfielder Roman Anthony positioned to take on a larger role.
