Bubba Wallace, Alex Bowman, and William Byron were uninjured and released from the infield care center following a severe multi-car crash during the NASCAR Cup race in Charlotte. With three laps left in Stage 1, Bowman lost control of his No. 48 Chevrolet while battling for fifth position and overcorrected into the right rear of Wallace's No. 23 Toyota. Both cars slammed hard into the outside wall and the inside barrier, while Byron was unable to avoid the collision.
All three drivers were forced to retire from the race due to crash damage. Wallace had a stretcher brought to his car before walking away under his own power to the ambulance. Bowman took full responsibility for the accident, apologizing to Wallace and Byron for ending their races.
