The Atlanta Braves lost right-hander Joel Payamps to free agency on Tuesday, just days after the Los Angeles Dodgers eliminated them from the National League Division Series.
Atlanta Braves right-handed reliever Joel Payamps elected free agency on Tuesday following the team's elimination from the National League Division Series. The 32-year-old veteran struggled in his limited major league appearances for Atlanta this season, compiling an 8.22 ERA across 7 2/3 innings before being designated for assignment in May.
Payamps spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Gwinnett, recording a 3.89 ERA over 34 outings. His departure marks the beginning of an offseason bullpen rebuild for manager Walt Weiss and the Braves following their four-game playoff series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
