Getting close to NASCAR used to be difficult. Now it takes a phone. Drivers post on social media, teams share behind-the-scenes clips, and journalists open up a world that once felt out of reach. But that access has a downside…

NASCAR director of security Lissette Deschamps revealed details about the sanctioning body's security protocols and credential blacklisting process. In an interview with journalist Kelly Crandall, Deschamps warned that credential violations, such as unauthorized pass sharing, can result in penalties ranging from a multi-race suspension to a lifetime ban.
Deschamps explained that NASCAR tracks suspicious online activity by conducting background searches and coordinating with team public relations representatives.
