The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. on injured reserve due to a foot injury, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Pittman aggravated a lingering plantar fasciitis issue during practice and will miss at least the next four games. With the team's Week 9 bye, the earliest he can return is Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Pittsburgh acquired Pittman via trade from the Indianapolis Colts in March and signed him to a $59 million extension. Through three games, he recorded seven catches for 89 yards. Wide receivers Roman Wilson, Germie Bernard, and Ben Skowronek are expected to see expanded roles during his absence.
