After over a year of waiting, three-time All-Star Ben Simmons made his long-awaited return to an NBA court as he made his preseason debut for the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night.
Sacramento Kings head coach Doug Christie explained that keeping Ben Simmons out of Tuesday's 110-98 preseason loss to the Portland Trail Blazers was part of a broader workload management strategy. Christie noted that the team aims to do what is best for Simmons to ensure his availability across the 82-game regular season.
Simmons recently made his preseason debut against the Golden State Warriors, scoring seven points in nine minutes on a non-guaranteed $3.5 million contract. Reports indicate Simmons is widely expected to secure a spot in the Kings' starting lineup for opening night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
