The Story in 60 Seconds

Pippen Ain't Easy argues that the Chicago Bulls' decision to draft and extend Patrick Williams looks increasingly worse following new reporting. On an episode of The Hoop Collective, Tim MacMahon revealed that multiple Bulls front-office members favored drafting Tyrese Haliburton fourth overall in 2020. However, executive Artūras Karnišovas prioritized Williams, who was drafted instead and subsequently signed to a four-year, $80 million contract extension.

Haliburton developed into a multi-time All-NBA selection who led the Indiana Pacers to the 2025 NBA Finals. Meanwhile, Williams averaged a career-low 20.5 minutes in 2025-26 while shooting under 40 percent, with three years and $54 million remaining on his deal.
