Xabi Alonso will hope Reece James can make his long-awaited return to action on Saturday afternoon, when Chelsea face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso faces an injury concern over Reece James after the club captain experienced issues with his knee. Alonso stated that the 26-year-old felt something following recent tests, confirming the team will assess the injury on a week-by-week basis. James was also absent from the opening 15 minutes of open training at Cobham on Tuesday ahead of Chelsea's upcoming match against Everton.
The defender recently missed Chelsea's 5-1 victory over Bournemouth and a 3-0 defeat against Brentford, in addition to being omitted from the England national squad. In his absence against Bournemouth, Alonso utilized a midfield partnership of Moises Caicedo and Jordan Henderson while Chelsea continues to monitor the severity of James's knee problem.
