The San Francisco 49ers will be without one of their defensive leaders when they put their unbeaten record on the line next week. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw’s appeal of his one-game suspension was denied on Tuesday, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported.…

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw will miss the upcoming Monday Night Football matchup against the Washington Commanders on October 19. Hearing officer James Thrash denied Greenlaw's appeal on Tuesday, upholding a one-game unpaid suspension issued by the NFL for violating sportsmanship rules.
The punishment follows an ejection during the 49ers' 32-29 victory against the Seattle Seahawks. Greenlaw committed a late hit on quarterback Sam Darnold and subsequently headbutted helmetless linebacker Ernest Jones IV, causing him to bleed. Greenlaw will be eligible to return in Week 7.
