"Whatever the team needs, I want to step into that role," the batter says as he adapts to bat at No. 5, sometimes even No. 6

India vice-captain Tilak Varma stated he is enjoying his new middle-order role batting at No. 5 or No. 6, despite having a personal preference for No. 3. Speaking ahead of the fourth T20I against West Indies in Hyderabad, Tilak emphasized that he is ready to adapt to whatever role the team requires to win matches.
Tilak explained the mental adjustments needed for the middle order, including anchoring after early wickets or hitting boundaries immediately. He also reflected on a bizarre run-out in the third T20I in Indore, noting he mistakenly assumed the ball had crossed the boundary rope.
