Denny Hamlin stated at Charlotte Motor Speedway that he is approaching his NASCAR championship pursuit of Kyle Larson one race at a time. Addressing Larson's dominant 2.2 average finish across the first five playoff races, Hamlin noted that winning the remaining five races would secure the title, but insisted he must focus exclusively on winning the next race first.
Hamlin admitted his Joe Gibbs Racing No. 11 team lost roughly 15 to 20 points the previous week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway due to pit strategy and a spin. However, Hamlin pointed out that he previously erased a 100-point deficit against Tyler Reddick during the regular season by securing race victories.
