The Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks recently sat down with Brooklyn Nets star Michael Porter Jr. for a tell-all interview on the NBPA’s new podcast, ‘PLYR2PLYR.’ Porter Jr.
Dillon Brooks revealed on the NBPA's 'PLYR2PLYR' podcast with Michael Porter Jr. that his on-court villain persona negatively impacted team chemistry while playing for the Memphis Grizzlies. Brooks explained that his aggressive trash-talking is merely an in-game character used for competitive motivation rather than a reflection of his true, laid-back personality off the court.
Taking inspiration from Kobe Bryant's separation of his 'Black Mamba' persona, Brooks stated that he eventually learned how to contain his villain mindset to the court when needed. He noted that embracing the role initially created difficulties for team camaraderie, but he now uses it strictly as a tool during games.
