Reaction to Lisandro Martinez outburst says a lot about Man United – and the club won’t like it

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez publicly criticized director of football Jason Wilcox following the team's 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid, claiming the hierarchy failed to sufficiently back manager Michael Carrick in the summer transfer window. A fan poll conducted by the Manchester Evening News revealed that 95 percent of over 9,000 respondents supported Martinez's critical comments regarding the club's leadership.

Pundits such as Wayne Rooney questioned the timing of the defender's public remarks, while Manchester United sources maintained that Wilcox's role remains secure. Martinez subsequently issued a statement clarifying his comments but stopped short of apologizing to the club.
