Former Minnesota Vikings assistant head coach Mike Pettine has joined the Dallas Cowboys defensive coaching staff. According to ESPN's Todd Archer, Pettine is coming out of retirement to reunite with Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker, whom Pettine initially hired while with the Green Bay Packers.
Pettine previously worked under Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell starting in 2022 before departing following reported friction with defensive coordinator Brian Flores. In Dallas, Pettine joins head coach Brian Schottenheimer to help improve a defense allowing 27.2 points per game for the 2-3 Cowboys.
