The Detroit Lions blasted the Arizona Cardinals this past weekend, 45-21. Any time the opposition posts up close to 50 points on your club, it is a huge issue. Except for the 26-14 victory over the hapless Los Angeles Chargers…

Barry Shuck argues that the Arizona Cardinals should consider moving on from defensive coordinator Nick Rallis following a 45-21 defeat against the Detroit Lions. The Cardinals have started the season 1-4, allowing a league-high 162 total points through five games. Arizona's defense has conceded over 30 points in four consecutive contests, ranking near the bottom of the league in multiple major passing and rushing categories.
Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur took personal accountability after the Lions game, stating that corrective focus starts with the coaching staff. Shuck notes that the unit has struggled with pass-rush production and scheme execution despite high-profile personnel additions like defensive end Josh Sweat. With senior defensive coach Teryl Austin available on staff, Shuck suggests an organizational change may be required to salvage the defense.
