CBS and Romo agreed to part ways on Oct. 2, with Romo expected to receive "a good portion" of the $72 million he had left on the final four years of his contract.

Jim Nantz has spoken publicly for the first time regarding Tony Romo's departure from CBS, expressing confidence that the former quarterback will work in sports broadcasting again. Speaking on the "Traina Thoughts" podcast, Nantz noted Romo's talent and popularity, stating that opportunities will be available for him in the future either in game commentary or studio analysis.
Romo and CBS agreed to part ways on October 2, following Romo's July arrest for operating while intoxicated in Wisconsin. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback had previously addressed an over-reliance on alcohol linked to past back surgeries. JJ Watt has since replaced Romo alongside Nantz in CBS's top NFL booth.
