Sir Gareth Southgate left his role as England manager in 2024

Former Middlesbrough and England manager Gareth Southgate revealed he does not envision returning to football management following his departure from the national team. Speaking on The Amol Rajan Connection podcast, Southgate explained that his desire to stay involved in football shifted after he stopped enjoying victories toward the end of his England tenure.
Southgate admitted he has barely watched football or attended matches since May 2025. Instead, he has focused on pursuing other interests over the past 18 months, including global travel, leadership projects, and media work.
