When the New England Patriots take on the Chicago Bears in Week 7, the Bears will be without one of their key defensive players. Edge rusher Montez Sweat has been suspended for two games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substance…

Chicago Bears star edge rusher Montez Sweat has received a two-game suspension from the NFL for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy. As a result of the ban, Sweat will miss Chicago's upcoming Week 7 matchup against the New England Patriots. Through the early part of the 2026 season, Sweat had already registered 2.0 sacks and two tackles for loss.
Sweat's absence provides relief for New England's offensive line, which is currently coping with several significant injuries, including offensive lineman Will Campbell's week-to-week knee injury. However, the Patriots must first navigate a Week 6 division clash against the New York Jets before shifting their focus to the Bears.
