The Nic Claxton injury update has raised concerns about the Chicago Bulls’ October 21, 2026, season opener against the Toronto Raptors. Head coach Tiago Splitter warned Tuesday that Claxton could remain sidelined for an extended period.
Chicago Bulls head coach Tiago Splitter announced that center Nic Claxton could be sidelined for an extended period after suffering a hamstring injury during training camp. Claxton has no confirmed return date ahead of the Bulls' October 21 season opener against the Toronto Raptors. A formal re-evaluation is scheduled for October 19.
Claxton was acquired from the Brooklyn Nets to partner with guard Josh Giddey, but Chicago faces frontcourt depth challenges with backup Zach Collins also managing a quadriceps injury. Center Jalen Smith emerged as an alternative starter after posting 15 points and seven rebounds in a 125-104 preseason win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
