The Story in 60 Seconds

The Colorado Rockies have parted ways with pitching coach Alon Leichman after only one season in the role, according to reports from The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Keith Law. The 37-year-old was originally hired in December 2025 to lead the Major League pitching staff. During his lone season, Colorado's pitching staff struggled significantly, finishing last in MLB in several major categories including ERA (5.59), WHIP (1.52), strikeout rate (17.5%), and opponents' batting average (.283).

President of baseball operations Paul DePodesta and manager Warren Schaeffer will now search for a replacement to lead the team's pitching development. Prior to joining the Rockies, Leichman served as an assistant pitching coach for the Miami Marlins and Cincinnati Reds, as well as working in the Seattle Mariners' minor league system.
